GPS/GSM Animal Collars

The animal tracking collar will have both GSM and GPS capability. The animal movement coordinates will be tracked using the on-board GPS and stored in a memory chip.

To minimize battery consumption of the GSM module, low-cost mini GSM receptors will be installed at various points in a given national park and those towers will have the capability to communicate with the Cell phone towers within range. So the GSM module on-board the animal will just have to transmit the data to the nearest receptor from where it is picked up and re-transmitted to the main cell phone tower

Remote unlocking of the radio collars for retrieval and repair or to replace dead battery banks.

Elephant Approach Early Warning System with Siren, Beacon Light and SMS Alerts

The system relies on physical movement being detected when the active beam of the sensors are interuppted by the body of the animal. The interruption is passed onto the central control unit . On detection , two things happen rapidly. A high decibel siren goes off and a beacon light is turned ON for 30 secs. The red beacon light is for visual indication, in the night, of the breach point. An SMS is sent out to 5 pre-programmed numbers about the possible exit of an elephant from the forests and entering the adjoining fields. The siren is used to wake up the farmer guarding his crop and at the same time to dis-orient the elephant and giving the farmer or the person guarding the potential breaching point time to react and apply scaring tactics like shouting, flashing lights or bursting crackers.

The system is designed to work between dusk and dawn. The system will turn on at sunset and deactivate on sunrise. The circuit on an average will be activated for 12 hrs per day / night. When the system is activated the active dual sensor beams are powered on and remain ON till sunrise the next day.
